GNM vs B.Sc Nursing — Which Should You Choose?

B.Sc Nursing (4 years) is a university degree requiring 10+2 with PCB. It opens doors to government staff nurse posts, defence and railway nursing, M.Sc Nursing and overseas careers. GNM (3 years) accepts any 10+2 stream with English, costs less (₹3,35,000 total at AGGI vs ₹6,00,000 for B.Sc) and gets you working a year earlier — and you can upgrade later through the 2-year Post Basic B.Sc. Choose B.Sc if you have PCB and long-term ambitions of promotion, teaching or going abroad; choose GNM if you're from arts/commerce or want the fastest respectable entry into nursing.

How to Become a Staff Nurse in Jharkhand

The pathway: complete 10+2, join an INC-approved B.Sc Nursing or GNM programme, clear the university/council examinations, register with the Jharkhand Nurses Registration Council (JNRC), then apply for government vacancies (JSSC/health department notifications) or private hospital posts. Clinical posting performance matters — hospitals frequently hire nurses they've already seen at work during training, which is why AGGI's hospital posting network is central to its placement support.

Paramedical Courses After 12th — Options in Jharkhand

Not everyone needs a 4-year degree to enter healthcare. Two-year diplomas — DMLT, X-Ray, OT, Radio Imaging and ICU Technician — qualify you for technician roles in hospitals and diagnostic centres, with total fees of ₹1,40,000 at AGGI and 60 seats per session. The 1-year Dresser certificate even accepts 10th pass students. Diagnostic labs and imaging centres are growing across Jharkhand's district towns, keeping technician demand steady.
